While we are strangers and sojourners here below, far from the heavenly country where we desire to be, who can we trust in to bring to the holy city, the New Jerusalem, of which the Lord God and the Lamb are the temple, but in thee, O Saviour and Redeemer, who art the head of every creature, the Captain of the armies of heaven and earth, the captain of our salvation, the Lord of hosts, and King of Glory?.

GOD'S REJECTION OF ALL MATERIAL TEMPLES. There was a time when it could be said that there was a house of God on earth. That was a time of symbols, when as yet the Church of God was in her childhood. She had need to have pictures put before her, patterns of the heavenly things. PSALM 4:8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep:
